5 misconceptions about manifesting.

The topic of manifesting has been around for a LONG time.
 
Before authors like Esther Hicks and Wayne Dyer brought the concepts of law of attraction mainstream—these ideas could be found sprinkled throughout the Bible, in Buddhist beliefs and in Ancient Egyptian writings.
 
It’s a topic that has been written and talked about by some of the greatest and most powerful minds of all time—and for good reason.
 

The idea is—that when you line up you energy with what you desire in life and make a conscious effort to consistently keep your energy aligned with those things—they will appear in your life (manifest).

But have you ever asked for something from the universe and it hasn’t magically show up for you?
 
Have you read many of these great books, felt pretty certain you’re doing what you’re supposed to—and things haven’t shown up for you?
 
Law of Attraction (LOA) and manifesting are brilliant tools to help us create a life we love—when they work. But there are several flaws or misconceptions that trip people up when trying to understand and apply manifesting principles.
 
Here are 5 of those misconceptions—
 
1.  It’s simple or easy.  When people hear “Ask and it is given”—they think that all they need to do is ask and it is given.  While this is possible, it’s not the norm (otherwise everyone would win the lottery : ) It’s not just about asking. It’s aboutlining up your energy with what you want—and that isn’t always simple or easy.  If you have a lifetime of negative energy about a topic (say creating wealth)—it may take more than just asking to change those ingrained beliefs. We have to combine a shift in our feelings and beliefs about what we desire with the asking.
 
2. It’s too complicated and requires too much work.  Yes, it can be seen as both oversimplified AND overcomplicated. Most people like the idea of “Ask and it’s given”—because it’s simple. Asking is easy, right? But the truth is—it can get complicated and a little messy when we are trying to rewrite years of messed up programming in our brains. Just as we can get tripped about it being too easy (and give up when it’s not) we can get tripped up on it being too much work. The point is—being aware to not let either excuse hold you back.
 
3. Focus on the future, not the present.  The key to being successful at manifesting is to learn to keep your primary focus on the NOW.  This trips people up because it seems like the very essence of manifesting is to create something that isn’t here yet—which sort of automatically puts us in the future. But it isn’t about feeling better once we get what we want. It’s about placing the focus on the NOW and feeling good NOW. This is what helps us get in the miracle zone with manifesting.
 
4. Thinking it’s about the end result.  We almost always associate manifesting with an end result—I will be happier once I get x,y or z. It’s hard not to because that’s sort of why we are doing in in the first place, right? We are working on changing our energy, so we can get something we don’t have . . . an end result. This isn’t the way to look at it though. The key is to be clear about what you want, yes. But then the key is to keep a steady, excited energy in the present moment. The better you get at feeling good NOW, regardless of what’s showing up in your life—the more a magnet you become for your desires.
 
5. Not enough clear steps and guidance on the “how-to” part of it.Clear, consistent “how-to” steps in regards to manifesting are left out of many of the teachings—or it’s confusing. Simply telling someone to feel good who has been chronically depressed most of their life–won’t help. You need clear guidance and steps and the how-to when you’re dealing with deeply ingrained habits of thinking and feeling.
 
These 5 misconceptions can get in the way of us learning to create what we want in life with manifesting .
 
And sometimes by simply understanding the flaws in something—you can gain more clarity about the strengths.
 
But one thing I want to make SUPER clear is that these “flaws” are really flaws in how we are perceiving manifesting. It’s not that there are flaws in manifesting—there are flaws in how we are relating to and interpreting it.
 
When you get to the point with manifesting where things just seem to effortlessly fall into place—it really is like living in a magical world. But as with most great things in life—there’s a learning curve.
 
It requires a bit of work and persistence.
 
But after awhile, it gets easier.
 
It becomes more habitual.
 
And you trade those feelings, thoughts and beliefs that worked against getting what you want—with the new improved versions.
 
The versions that support your well-being and happiness.
 
And that’s worth the work, in my opinion!

The Myth of Feeling Good all the Time

In the quest to manifest things—to get what we want in life by learning to use our energy to attract things to us—we often hear that we need to just feel good.             feelreal-default

Ok, so that can be a bit confusing, because the fact is—there will be times when it doesn’t feel good. 

There will be times when it is confusing, sad, scary, uncomfortable and challenging.

In the quest to go for your dreams, live true to yourself and manifest your desires, the soul will experience some growing pains.

You may not want to write that blog post, change your eating habits, react differently to people who trigger you or have that difficult talk with your spouse. But in the end, by doing these things and moving through the intital discomfort, you may get closer to a deeper sense of feeling good. 

Does it feel good to get on stage and overcome your fear of public speaking? No!  But in order to achieve that next level you may want to go to in your life—it may be necessary to go through that fear and come out the other end with an increased confidence.

You willingly go through the discomfort to reap the reward on the other side. 

Having the healthy body you really want may require that you give up some bad habits to get the result you want. It may require you change your diet, exercise more and change your beliefs about health. You may have to sweat a bit (literally) to get to that better feeling place in your life. 

Would it be easier to sit on the coach and eat potato-chips? Mmmm….maybe in that instant. But on another more conscious level, you know that what would be better for you would be to get your butt off the coach, go for a walk, choose something healthy to eat and ditch the junk food.

Where many people get off track with this idea (to just feel good no matter what) is that they confuse feeling good from a short-term, instant gratification viewpoint, with a long-term, more conscious, deep level of feeling good. Or they believe that they have to fake how they feel and force being happy. This isn’t about faking it.

Be real about how you feel, then move towards raising your vibration by feeling better. 

The point it—it’s not always easy, and it doesn’t always feel good.

We resist change. We fight it. We tend to want to do what is easier. Do we want easy, or do we want lasting joy? Do we want easy or meaningful? 

Struggle is not a requirement, but it may be a part of it when you are pushing up against some big goals, changes or intentions.

Keep the focus on feeling real and feeling better. Just keep reaching for ways to feel better that will serve you long-term and support your goals and intentions.

Choosing our thoughts, feelings and actions is what it’s all about. Having choice is what gives us creative freedom in our lives. If you want something that isn’t coming to you—choose differently. That is all it takes.

Choice Matters Most

Choice matters most because without it, you wouldn’t have options.Choice matters most because it means you have creative control over certain things in your life.     

Choice matters most because it holds you accountable for your life. If you are the one choosing, it’s up to you, right?

Choice matters most because without it, all the other stuff wouldn’t matter that much.

Without choice we are prisoners, victims, puppets. We are without hope, vision or dreams.

Without choice there is no vanilla or chocolate, no play it safe or go big, no decaf or regular, no love or hate. 

Even in the most horrible, dire situations, you have a choice in how you feel, how you react and what you choose to believe.

How you  feel is a choice and also the most important thing to master, if you want to learn how to get what you want in life.  

Choice may not be the sexiest, most alluring topic….. at least on the surface. But when you really take a minute to think about what choice means, really means to you—it is sexy. It is alluring. It is super cool. It is powerful. It is a massive gift that is often taken for granted.

Choice is the very thing that makes your life meaningful or miserable. It has equal power to be destructive as it does to be constructive.

You choose health. You choose wealth. You choose happiness, growth and success. You can also choose the negative stuff too. 

Learning how to master our choices is about learning to be aware, conscious and alive. Learning how to use the gift of choice to consciously direct the flow of our lives is what manifesting is all about. Being a conscious chooser is the beginning stage of learning to manifest (getting what we desire through the energy we put out into the world).

I LOVE the fact that we have choices, but many of us just don’t see it as the incredible gift and powerful tool that it is. How many people do you know who continue making the same bad choices over and over again? Or those who seem to make great choices in certain areas of their lives, but not so much in others.  Or those who seem to go around and around with their choices and never seem to have clarity. 

If you want something that isn’t coming to you, it’s as simple (maybe not always easy) as shifting the choices you are making . . . right down to the choice in how you feel, what you think and how you react.

Having the abundance and success you desire is about making aligned choices with those desires. Having the health and body you want is about making those same choices (and it’s not just about exercise and nutrition .  . . it’s about how you feel and what you think). 

Getting clear about how you make choices, how to be better with the ones you have and how to improve the way you do choose and decide . . is key to manifesting your sexy, alluring, healthy and abundant life.

What the heck am I talking about?                   

Choose your art, means to choose that thing (or things) that light your fire.

Art is about creativity, expression, freedom to be who we are and it’s about our truths.

Do you remember finger painting or doing something super creative as a kid. . . and how fun it was? Or maybe your art was sports, or building forts, or maybe it was reading. We all have, or have had something that is our art, our play, our free space, our creative fire. 

Our Art = Our Passions in life.

Your art is that thing you would do, no matter what. It’s that thing that makes you feel grounded, excited, and  happy.

It just feels like you.

What if our “work” was our art? What if our life was our art?

What if we viewed our time here as our canvas and that what it all came down to was what we decided, or CHOSE to put on that canvas. 

This is just another way of saying—you are the creator of your life. You are the artist. 

Our art, our freedom, our happiness, our success, our health, wealth and whatever it is that we choose to manifest in our lives comes down to, primarily, the choices we make.

Your choices = your life. Your choices are intricately connected to what you consciously get (or manifest) in life.

To be a successful student of the art of manifesting, you need to be a successful student of the art of making conscious choices.

If you choose your art, or that which turns you on and connects you to your most true self, then you are on the path to being a ninja manifestor and master of your choices.

The truth is—it isn’t a lack of information available to us. We are all “choiced out.”  In other words, we really do have too may choices. Learning to choose the ones that feel like your art, feel expansive, freeing and enjoyable, is the key to prosperity, health, love and true joy.

How to Allow More Pleasure in Your Life

  3. Amusement, diversion, or worldly enjoyment.
  4. Sensual gratification or indulgence.
  5. One’s preference or wish.

Yes, please! I’ll have some of that! 

I’m not talking about sexual pleasure. I’m talking about a deep internal, soul kind of pleasure.  Although, the sexual kind is rather amazing too.  😛

The point I want to make here is about this personal, soul pleasure. The kind that makes you feel excited, complete, loved, joy filled and connected.

And why it is, that we cut ourselves off from allowing ourselves to feel good.

What’s up with that? Why do we feel guilty about feeling good and how the heck can we get back into guilt free pleasure?

Do you ever have that sense that you feel TOO good, or that things have been going well for  a little too long, so something bad is just bound to happen? Like you are due for some negative, because you have had your allotted does of positive?

Can’t we enjoy without having that sense it will slip away, creep in?

We are so programmed to feel guilty about feeling good—that we assume only a certain amount of the good can last.  Like we are only allotted a certain amount of good things before it crashes.

Struggle is praised and enjoying is seen as selfish. How often do we place on a pedestal those that work their fingers to the bone? Yuk!

No thank you. I don’t want some of that.

I choose to believe, and base my reality on the belief that we can have our cake and eat it too. We can have gain without pain. We can be curious and not kill the cat.

We choose our thoughts, our feelings and our reactions. And through these choices, we choose our life, how it feels, all the components. Get good at making conscious dialed in choices, based on you, not someone else and you will open doors and create magic that will rock your world.

I am living proof.

We can write any script we want for our lives. We can be content, fulfilled, overjoyed, for extended periods of time and not be punished for it.

I believe we deserve to feel good, to chase our dreams, to live the exact life we want.

But if we are running around, either consciously or unconsciously (most times its unconsciously) thinking negative thoughts and having negative feelings a majority of the time, we wont be happy and will attract more of that energy to us. Its manifesting 101, right?

We get what we predominantly thing about and feel.

If we hold a strong belief that its wrong to feel really good, then yes, eventually, we will most likely attract something bad to confirm our belief.

I really want to live life full throttle and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to throw away those belief that no longer serve my higher purpose of truly enjoying life. I choose to not blindly accept what others say, but think for myself and come up with my own way of doing life.

I spent far too many years in a state of disallowing my power , passion and deepest truth to surface. I spent years batting battles that couldn’t be won and stressing about things that didn’t need stressing about.

Now, I choose the fast track. I choose the fast track to abundance, success, love, power from a feminine space, and guilt free pleasure.

Sound good? Join me. It’s as easy as a choice. Then the rest will fall into place. Choose to believe it.

That little saying “ just do it” there’s a reason why its so catchy. It’s a truth.

Just do it is giving ourselves guilt-free permission to go there, to be who we want to be and to do what we want to do, again, guilt free.

Your Choice Du Jour—

  • Bask in the moments of pleasure you experience in your life.
  • When you are in those moments, choose to stay longer there. Don’t pull yourself away.
  • Fully embrace it—whether its sounds in nature, the laugh of your kids, painting, playing music, a hug, stargazing, a massage, reading…just allow yourself to be with it for a longer than your nomal amount of time.
  • If guilt comes up, just allow it. Trying to push away uncomfortable feelings is pointless. Allow it, acknowledge it, be with it.
  • Then CHOOSE to replace it with a better feeling or thought. What you allow yourself to think and feel is a choice.

Choose to fully embrace pleasure—guilt free.
